Why here, why now?
More than ten major film productions are set to be partially
filmed in and around Cleveland, Ohio within 2024 alone, with
more than twenty to come in 2025 as an extremely favorable
30% state tax credit is set to go into effect that year. This
is in addition to the countless many smaller productions which are
also being partially shot within the city.
But why are
they only being partially shot here?
There are no large sound stages!
Most major film productions shot in the Midwest use the sound stages at Cinespace Studios in Chicago, IL. Their near monopoly on large sound stages in the Midwest had allowed their Chicago location to grow to now over 50 stages since opening 13 years ago. Alternatively, many productions move to sound stages in Atlanta, Georgia. Moving large-scale productions is a very costly and time consuming process which would be avoided if possible.
